questions: email me at: agarleather@gmail.com instagram: @mulefootharness The Colt Walker of 1847 signalled the real beginnings of the six shooter era. These massive pistols were usually meant to be carried on the saddle (pommel holster) rather than the hip. They have served as the preferred sidearm of some of Hollywood's most iconic characters including Robert Duval as Augustus McCrae in Lones...

questions: email me at: agarleather@gmail.com instagram: @mulefootharness Farrier chaps are similar to any chaps worn by horse people but somewhat shorter and reinforced with extra layers of leather over the thighs where the horse's hoof rests while being trimmed and shod. These ones are most definitely decorated in a more traditional cowboy style with tooled leather waist and leg reinforcement...

Questions? email me at agarleather@gmail.com I love this incredible Wickett and Craig old world harness leather. It makes superb belts, regular or cartridge. This is a ranger style cartridge belt. (Identified by the billet and chape sewn and riveted over the body of the belt.) A very traditional style that came into being with the development of brass cartridges for firearms.

    Very nice work, thank you for sharing. If I may ask, how wide is the base piece of leather that the two billets and bullet slots are attached to. The buckle billet and hole billet look to be 2" wide, which would suggest that the wider belt they are attached to would be maybe 3.5-4 inches wide. Thanks again. I learn from these type of videos so I appreciate you sharing your skills on video.

    Hi Agar France, a few years ago you posted a video of the creation of a wonderful old-style western saddle, from the 1880s I think. I've been looking for it for a long time but it's no longer there. It was great, especially the reminder of the rigging style that went over the fork, were not nailed down. It would be kind of you to repost it. Thank you

    Hello sir. Can you explain why your antique paste does not leak when you get your holster moisted for forming? Thank you for your answer.

    • @agarfrance9272
      @agarfrance9272 5 місяців тому

      I usually use some tan-kite over it before I wet it but that also dissolves a bit, the antique also doesIt does, there’s not much that can be done about it so I have to be very careful. Sometimes touch up the antique later. Give it a final coat of tan-kite if necessary.

      @@agarfrance9272 thanks for you answer. I actually kinda do the same but i always get some leaks.. So now when it's possible i do apply it when my molding is finished... Which is in some cases very annoying. But in you video it looks like it does not "disolve". Well done!!

    Beautiful craftsmanship! The only thing I would have done differently, is line the inside of the holster because of the Chicago Screws. The gun will rub against the screws and could cause the “blueing” to rub off the gun.

    Well... I did everything in a very different order on the saddle I am building. I am at the forks cover and boy is it hard. I have wasted 2 tries and am going to attempt the 3rd tommorow. I've been using the Stohlman books and they are great - but they can't tell you everything! After watching this I can see the wisdom of slick forks but I have what I have and will figure it out. I will try fitting it and lacing the sides as that seems to be the only option left. Luckily I am pretty good with lacing and braiding and should be able to pull it off. It is a challenge but i think it will be worth it when I ride in a saddle I make.
